IPL hair removal is used in many beauty salon and spas to remove unsightly hair. When it comes to hair removal, IPL is consider the pioneer technology before laser hair removal and SHR removal. Up to 70% of the hair in the treated region can be removed, and regeneration is inhibited or slowed for up to a year.
A single IPL session will run you upwards of $100 and take up to 15 minutes of your time. In order to get the best possible outcomes, you’ll need to undergo a series of treatments. At Cosmo Medical Spa, we use a upgraded technology Dual Pulse Light (DPL) to replace traditional IPL.
Our dual pulse light (DPL) is 100% effective with guaranteed results. It is suitable for lighter skin types. You can target hair removal any parts of the body.
IPL hair removal deploys broad spectrum light with different wavelengths to penetrate the skin at various levels. IPL emits light energy that is weaker, more sporadic, and less targeted than a laser, which employs a single-spectrum light.
Pulses of light from an IPL device are absorbed by the pigment in hair follicles just below the skin’s surface, removing the follicles from the hair. As the light is absorbed by the skin, it is converted into heat, thereby destroying the follicle and leading to hair loss and a severe slowing of hair regrowth.
Since broad-spectrum light naturally diffuses, IPL hair removal devices can treat substantially greater areas of skin than laser hair removal equipment. Thus, while IPL treatments are typically quicker than laser hair removal methods, more IPL sessions are needed to achieve the same outcomes.
In general, people with lighter skin and dark hair have the best results with standard IPL hair removal machines. Though some hairs may appear white on the surface, they may actually have dark follicles. IPL, especially more sophisticated IPL equipment, is effective for this mix of hair and skin as well.
The advantages of IPL hair removal are:
✅ Permanent hair removal – hair removal up to 1 year
✅ Faster time – requires 10 – 15 min treatment per area
✅ 2x faster than old IPL – DPL is more effective technology
✅ Minimal downtime – a perfect lunch time treatment with no down time
✅ Cost effective – Cheaper than SHR or laser hair removal

Majority of customer will see a noticeable hair reduction after the first session. For best results, it is recommended to complete 8 sessions. Permanent hair removal results can last approximately 6 months. Additional sessions may be required to treat regrowth and preserve the results.
808nm diode laser targets hair follicles directly, the laser beams will cause less blood flow to the follicle, and the hair that does regrow will weaken and shrink over time.
Do note that results is not immediate and hair requires 1 -2 weeks to fall out. When a hair is exposed to laser, some of them fall out immediately, while others may continue to grow and fall out over time.
IPL hair removal is one of the pioneer technology in modern hair removal. Compared to newer technology such as diode laser, it is not as effective and cannot be used for darker skin tone.
IPL hair removal uses a broad spectrum of light to damage hair follicles. It is not as effective as the beams is scattered compared to a more focused beam with laser removal.
In terms of results, IPL will take longer than diode lasers. For individuals with darker skin tone, IPL is not suitable as it could potentially cause skin burn.
Brazilian hair removal treatment covers a larger area compared to bikini hair removal. It strips the pubic region of all hair and removes hair from the labia and perianal areas.
Other than full hair removal, Brazilian can be tailored for those who prefer to retain some pubic hair, such as a landing strip. Any of the choices can be tailored to meet your needs.
Laser hair removal is an effective solution for Brazilian as it does not cause irritation and can safely and effectively remove all hairs.
Disclaimer: Individual results may vary.
When it comes to hair removal at home, there are some home based hair removal equipments.
Some will employ powerful pulsed light, while the other is a real laser. However, both types of hair removal devices are less effective than compared to professional hair removal machines.
The home devices don’t perform as well as the professional machine simply due to lower power output. Additional drawbacks include difficulty of using at-home devices to cover a large area, such as an entire legs.
Additionally, they might not be powerful enough to remove all hair. You’ll lessen the amount of hair you see across several sessions without conclusive results.
The main difference between the two laser hair removal is Diode lasers is suitable to treat patients with darker skin tones, while Alexandrite lasers often work best on people with lighter skin tones.
Although pain sensitivity varies between individual, both diode laser and Alexandrite laser is comfortable overall they have a cooling system to minimise heat.
Diode lasers wavelength varies from 808nm to 810nm, allowing deeper skin penetration. It is more effective for coarse hair such as pubic hair (brazilian hair removal).
In patients with darker skin, the longer wavelengths prevent skin damage close to the skin’s surface.
Alexandrite lasers, on the other hand, have a shorter wavelength. It’s advantageous for folks with lighter skin (people who burn easily when tanning). Usually with shorter wavelength about 755 nm, it is best performed on skin that is lighter or whiter.
When it comes to hair removal, there is a range different method. As one of the top laser hair removal center, we highly recommend to laser every inch of your body.
When it comes to hair removal, there isn’t a one size fit all solution. Although laser hair removal may be the most effective, it does not apply to everyone and anyone. First off, laser hair removal is not suitable for the following:
Pubic laser hair removal are very common these days for both male and female. For female, the popular treatment are bikini line and brazilian hair removal. For males, it is referred to as boyzilian hair removal.
At Cosmo Medical Spa, we offer a 50% off for first trial for all hair removal treatments. You can try the first session from $110. Typically it will require approximately 5 – 8 sessions depending on thickness of hair and quantity.
Yes, you must shave 24 hours before the laser hair removal treatment. The hair removal is most effective during the anagen (growing) phase of hair cycle.
It is important that the treated area must not be exposed to the sun or a sun bed prior to receiving laser treatment. When exposure to the sun cannot be avoided, a total sun block with an SPF of at least 50 should be used as a sunscreen.
Six weeks before treatment, you must refrain from waxing, bleaching, or hair removal by pulling or pulling. The success of the laser removal depends on keeping the hair’s colour and root intact.
The day or night before your visit, you should shave the region that will receive treatment. As there won’t be any hair on the surface to absorb the laser’s energy, doing this will prevent thermal damage to the skin’s surface.
It will enable the laser to target the hair follicle directly. In the event that the skin is cut while being shaved, it will also allow the skin to heal.
Kindly note that your hair will not fall out immediately and will gradually fall out over the course of a few days to a few weeks.
It could appear like the hair is still growing. Because hair growth and loss cycle naturally, it is typically necessary to receive multiple treatments. Laser hair treatment is most effective when applied to hair follicles that are just beginning to grow.
Results are highly variable and unpredictable. For the majority of people, hair removal lasts several months and perhaps even years. However, permanent hair removal is not a certainty with laser hair removal. Hair normally grows back finer and lighter in colour.
For long-term hair reduction, you might require follow-up laser treatments.
