Chemical peels treat pigmented and age spots by using greater concentrations of acids.
It can penetrate the epidermis to minimize the appearance of pigmentation and age spots.
When an acid is applied to the skin, it penetrates into the dermis layer, where acne is active.
The acid’s reaction dissolves bacteria and oil and removes skin pigmentation.
Applying salicylic acid to the skin will cause it to penetrate the dermis layer, where acne is active.
The acid’s reaction will dissolve any bacteria or oil present there, avoiding an acne breakout.
Although there are many other types of acid peels available, salicylic acid is the best peel for aggressive acne. Blackheads and whiteheads on acne-prone skin can be treated effectively with a beta hydroxy acid, salicylic acid.

Other than going for consistent facial, it is important to adopt a strict skin care regime to ensure another acne outbreak. You can follow the below steps for acne skin conditions:
1. Wash face gently – Start with a gel or foam-based gentle cleanser to clean the face without drying it out. Salicylic acid-based cleansers are best for acne-prone oily skin. They remove dirt and sebum from deep into pores. Avoid more than twice-daily use.
2. Use alcohol-free toner – Toners are vital for oily skin since they remove dirt and sebum your cleanser missed. Alcohol-free toner balances the skin’s pH and promotes a shine. Look for a non-fragrance, skin-soothing composition.
3. Use AHA/BHA serums – salicylic acid (BHA) serums are the most efficient chemical exfoliator for treating breakouts and blemishes. Glycolic acid or Lactic acid are milder exfoliants that target fine wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and pigmentation. These serums exfoliate dead skin and improve cell turnover to minimize oil overproduction.
4. Apply oil-free moisturiser – oily skin moisturisers should be non-comedogenic or oil-free. Oily, acne-prone, or combo skin needs a lightweight gel formulation containing hyaluronic acid and glycerin.
5. Choose matte sunscreen – sticky and greasy SPF formulas are the main reason oily skin avoids SPF. Use a matte-finish sunscreen gel or powder. This matte finish works well under makeup.
